CheckEye was selected as Tech Fair Winners at the Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) 2024 conference in Florence, Italy, last week.

Our Healthcare Advisor, Olena Chernenko, represented CheckEye at this prestigious conference focused on innovative technologies and treatment methods for diabetes. The scale and pace of diabetes spread in Europe are alarming, and the situation continues to worsen.

The 17th International Conference showcased a paradigm shift in addressing diabetes:

1️⃣ Type 2 diabetes is recognized as the greatest threat to healthcare resources and societies, with an emphasis on prevention through lifestyle interventions.
2️⃣ Prevention of complications, including from pharmaceutical companies, was a significant focus.

One of the standout messages was from Sanofi, highlighting the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes and the potential to delay its onset if autoimmune processes are detected early. Delaying the onset could provide invaluable years of healthy living for children—a significant breakthrough in modern medicine.

It’s no coincidence that this year’s conference took place in Florence, Italy, where the country has pioneered universal screening for type 1 diabetes in children.

We were also delighted to connect with esteemed individuals like Alicia Jenkins, President of Insulin for Life AUSTRALIA INC (IFL). Alicia’s dedication to predicting and preventing diabetes, along with her advocacy for equitable access to diabetes care, is inspiring. Her work with IFL, providing diabetes support to underserved populations, demonstrates a commitment to making a difference globally.

ATTD2024 was not just a conference; it was a platform for groundbreaking ideas, meaningful connections, and collective efforts towards combating diabetes on a global scale. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this transformative event and look forward to continuing our journey towards a healthier future together.
