The CheckEye team participated in FUTURE FORCES FORUM 2024 in Prague — one of the most influential international events dedicated to defense, security, and cutting-edge technologies. The forum was split into two parts: NATO defense strategies and civil security, where our development advisor, @Olena Chernenko, shared insights from our unique experience.
👁 Olena spoke on “Mass Medical Screening During Wartime: Results, Insights, and Post-War Perspectives for Public Health,” explaining how our AI-based screening system for diabetic retinopathy has been implemented nationwide in Ukraine, even during war. This solution not only detects diseases at early stages but also helps prevent severe complications like irreversible blindness.
During the war, we conducted joint screenings for diabetic retinopathy in collaboration with our partners at the Ukrainian Diabetic Federation as part of the project “Seeing the Colorful World – 2.” 👥 This initiative has been critical in expanding early detection efforts, particularly when healthcare access is disrupted by conflict.
📊 Olena emphasized that our screenings have identified signs of diabetic retinopathy in 35% of individuals with diabetes. This highlights the urgent need for early detection initiatives, especially as the health of the population is critical for Ukraine’s post-war recovery and future workforce.
🌍 FUTURE FORCES FORUM gathered delegations from over 60 countries, discussing the future of defense, artificial intelligence, and health technologies. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to share our experiences and demonstrate how innovations in healthcare can safeguard and strengthen public health, even in the most challenging times.
