A memorandum regarding the implementation of a program for diagnosing eye diseases in diabetic patients using the CheckEye technology with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has been signed in Vinnytsia.
Representatives of CheckEye, the Department of Health and Rehabilitation of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, the Endocrinology Center of the Vinnytsia Regional Council, and the Ukrainian Diabetic Federation have agreed to involve AI CheckEye for the mass screening of diabetic patients.
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most severe complications of diabetes, leading to vision loss. Understanding the importance of preventing complications of diabetes and applying AI to address acute healthcare issues, especially the mass early detection of DR, the parties have developed a corresponding program.
During its implementation, the installation of fundus cameras, training of medical personnel, and integration of artificial intelligence CheckEye into the screening process are planned. The implementation of the program will allow residents of the region at risk to discover the presence of diabetic retinopathy at early stages and preserve their vision.
